Model UN Trip to New York
By Anna Tom & Samantha Regi

Model UN continued its streak of successful conventions with a trip to New York in March. From March 12–18, SPB Model UN high schoolers were in New York City for NHSMUN, the largest international high school MUN conference in the U.S. Their delegates met students from all over the world, including Argentina, Finland, Italy, France, Mexico, India, and many others. Despite challenges like a last-minute flight cancellation, Model UN still made it to NYC just in time for one of the biggest highlights of the trip: a performance set to Bad Bunny’s music and a meeting with the 49th Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, who answered select questions from NHSMUN delegates. After the opening session, committee sessions ran for three days, with delegates debating topics ranging from developing equal access to space technology, to lethal autonomous weapons systems, and finally concluding with the highly anticipated delegate dance. Once closing ceremonies ended, MUNions were able to enjoy the full experience of New York City, including visiting the MET museum, walking through Times Square, and ending the night with a nice team dinner. The next morning started with a ferry ride to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, followed by a stop at Chelsea Market, and nighttime ice skating at Rockefeller Center. On our final day, we toured the United Nations Headquarters and stepped inside real General Assembly rooms. NHSMUN was a great conference and an even better way to conclude our 2025–2026 SPBMUN season. We’re so proud of all our delegates!
